Causes: e.g. stone chips, damage while parked or while transported, vandals, snow chains, carelessness while loading or unloading, etc.

Worst-affected areas: bumper, radiator grille, bonnet, wheel arch, entrance, leading edge of the car roof, door frame

Description of the damage: The scratches are perfectly visible and noticeable. In most of the cases the paint is already chipped and the metal (car sheet metal) appears. That mostly happens with older damages including patches of rust.

Quick fix: remove rust and chipped off, loose pieces of paint, clean the bare area and ground it. Apply the paint with the touch-up pencil onto the dry grounding. Let it cure and fill it with clear lacquer afterwards. 
After 2 or 3 days the paint will be complety cured und can now be polished and, if necessary, also be sanded. For a perfect result, preserve with hard wax.

Do away with the rust! In cases of small damages – see image – simply use a screwdriver and scrape off the rust. What stays is a shiny area, which should be slightly bigger than the original stone chip. That’s important, because along the edges nasty rust stays below the paint. Now, the stainless area is going to be cleaned with silicone remover. As a grounding use the rust converter. Apply a thin layer with a brush. Allow the paint to dry for about 1 hour – time for a Cappuccino…

With the touch-up pencil dab the area carefully. Attention! Don’t use too much paint in order to prevent drop formation that are going to remain visible The paint must only cover the blank spot. After curing (about 10 – 20 min) fill up the dent carefully with clear lacquer.

In order to perfect the repair, polish the area extensively again after 2 – 3 days and preserve it with hard wax. Why don’t you polish the whole car and, in doing so, maintain its value? Look forward to the result: shiny and smooth!
